Questions

The clocks, explained.

How long do I have to change my address with PennDOT?

Pennsylvania residents are required by law to report a change of address to PennDOT within 15 days of moving. The update is free online, and PennDOT mails an address-update card to carry with your license.

I'm moving to Bucks County from out of state — what are the deadlines?

Two clocks start when you establish Pennsylvania residency: your vehicles must be titled and registered in PA within 20 days, and an out-of-state non-commercial driver's license must be exchanged for a PA license within 60 days.

When is the voter-registration deadline?

Pennsylvania closes voter registration 15 days before each election. After a move you re-register at the new address — online through PA Voter Services, by mail, or at PennDOT license centers.

Does my dog really need a license?

Yes — Pennsylvania dog law requires dogs three months and older to hold a license, renewed annually. In Bucks County licenses are sold by the County Treasurer's office online, by mail, or in person.
